✅ Helps with skin issues (ringworm, sweet itch) and skin allergies & conditions
The system allows the microscopic particles of salt to be dispersed into the air, the tiny particles are inhaled deep into the lungs where the greatest healing can be achieved, aiding mucus release & reducing inflammation within the airways for easier breathing.
Salt therapy not only cleanses from the inside but gives great results on the outside. The skin being the largest organ naturally absorbs the salt, enabling it to assist with alleviating skin issues such as sweet itch and ringworm. The salt reduces any inflammation to the aggravated areas and also improves the circulation of the skin surface, helping with skin irritations, allergies and the overall well being of the animal.
For respiratory issues we can provide a cleanse process for horses, making them clearer in their system and restoring their ultimate capacity to breathe. This in turn provides as much oxygen into the blood as possible, raises their energy levels and helps their immune system. It is beneficial for upper and lower respiratory problems including COPD/RAO and coughing which can be caused by allergies & infections. We have found that even with a ‘pick me up’ session that stamina and endurance is increased and performance is much improved.
Besides all the benefits that salt therapy has for your horses respiratory systems, it also has many benefits for the skin as well!!!
The skin will absorb particles which land of the horse during a session, which will enable it to assist with alleviating skin issues such as sweet itch, ring worm and general allergies. This will reduce inflammation and also reduce the aggravated areas where rubbing and itching has taken place, which means your horse will feel less stressed, less moody and feel much calmer within itself.
Skin – Depending on the severity of the skin issue we recommend an initial cleanse of 3 x 20 minute sessions over 3 consecutive days, for deep set skin issues 5 consecutive days and monitor the results, more sessions may be required followed by top ups throughout the year. We have found with the improved circulation within the skin and a feeling of well-being inside a glossy coat will show through too.
Respiratory – With respiratory issues again it would be the initial cleanse of 3 consecutive days and monitor the progress of the horse.
Top ups – It would be advised to have seasonal or periodic top ups depending on condition of your horse, this will be discussed during the therapy session.
Pick me ups – ‘A pick me up’ is designed to give your horse a bit of a boost in his step by allowing the salt therapy to open up the airways and cleanse his respiratory system. This is a one x 20 minute session (after completing the initial 3 x 20 minute sessions at another time) this can be carried out before or after an event or just for the well-being factor if you believe your horse ‘isn’t quite right in himself’
This therapy can be used along side vet advice and treatment as it is a drug free, non-invasive natural therapy and is not intended to take the place of vet advice.
About the Author
About me – my name is Kathryn Hillier and I am an Aussie now living in England.
I have been involved with horses since a young age competing in pony club and low level eventing. I worked as polo groom and event groom before transitioning into the Thoroughbred industry. After starting as a strapper and work rider in Australia, I moved over into the breeding industry where I worked with horses in aspects from foalings to sales prep and all in between. I was given the chance to come to the Northern hemisphere for a foaling season, and after following the foaling season between hemispheres for a couple of years, I decided to stay in England full time.
I completed my training with Darrell Torrens, the founder of the Newmarket Equine Salt Therapy System, and I use his proven and successful system.
